It's Going To Be A Happy Bank Holiday "Monday Monday"
It going to be a happy Bank Holiday "Monday Monday" for the Racers with additions to the fixture list and news of a very special guest on August 26th.
The cancelled match away to Carmarthen earlier this month has been rearranged for the 7th September at Stoke's Loomer Rd stadium, and it's hoped that the management will be taking a team to Mildenhall for a challenge match on Sunday September 1st.
The big news though is that Sam Norris will be the guest of honour on Bank Holiday Monday when the Racers host the Milton Keynes Knights at Swindon. The 15 year old whose crash at Glasgow just 2 months ago resulted in life threatening injuries, has made a miraculous recovery so far and is now well enough to attend Speedway matches and satisfy his hunger to be involved again.
Sam, who was hit by a rival's machine and suffered brain injuries that initially meant he couldn't walk, talk or see, will be presented to the crowd before watching the Swindon v Ipswich match with his parents in the Legends' Lounge. He will then join his Reading team mates in the pits for their Midland & Southern Development League match against the Knights.
It's also a night of celebration for Swindon on the 26th as they mark their 70th year since first staging Speedway back in 1949.
The Racers management once again would like to express their gratitude to the Swindon promotion for including Reading and Sam in their big night, and look forward to a successful evening for both clubs.
