New Squad Members Revealed.

Reading are proud to announce as their 1st new squad member for 2019, 15 year old Sam Norris, a member of the Young Lions set up and a rider fast making a name for himself.


Sam, who only turned 15 at the tail end of last year, ahs made rapid strides since first starting Speedway just a couple of years ago at Rye House. Also a Grass Tracker, the Cambridge youngster has been a recent runner up in the 250cc youth championships, while his Speedway experience has so far been restricted to the Lions plus 2nd half and pre-meeting races at Rye and Lakeside, due to his tender years. However, having now hit 15, he was quickly snapped up by Mildenhall as their 2019 No 8, showing the high esteem he is held in.


The Racers management are extremely pleased to have Sam in their ranks, and Sam and his family are both pleased and excited to be pulling on the Winged Wheel race jacket this season in the development league, with Sam simply saying " I can't wait to get started"


Reading's 2nd rider is a familiar face from last season in 18 year old Rhys Laker, who was almost an ever present for the Racers in 2018, and is looking for more progress this year.


Hailing from Canterbury, he spent 2 years as the Kent Kings mascot and has done most of his laps on the Iwade and Lydd circuits. The 2018 SDL was a big learning curve with almost every track being new to him, but his pledge for this term is to get to practice sessions on as many tracks as possible.

Rhys says: " I;m really pleased to be back with Reading, I've got new equipment and a new enthusiasm and I have to aim to be a top rider in this league".

Both of these riders fit nicely with one of the aims of the development league, as Reading continue to give chances to youngsters bidding to prove themselves.
