Reading Head into 5th League Match.

Reading head into their 5th Development League match of the season this Thursday when they take on the Exeter "Chris Richards" Falcons at Swindon.

It's been a eventful couple of weeks on the team front since their win over Milton Keynes on June 5th.

Most importantly, Sam Norris remains stable in Glasgow hospital after his horrendous crash at the Ahfield Stadium just over a week ago, and has been accepted for a move to Addenbrookes Hospital much nearer his Cambridge home, where he will remain in recovery from the brain injuries he received.

Days before that the Racers had introduced Lewis Whitmore into their squad in a bid to have more riders available. Jamie Couzins made way after the team had been unable to race a match so far without using the unattached rider pool. Whitmore was lined up to make his debut this week but is now unavailable.

Then in another bid to increase their options, Jamie Bursill was replaced by ex Racer William O'Keefe, a rider from that pool who has stood in for the Racers this year.

But despite all efforts the management team have 3 riders available once again - Kieran Douglas stated he couldn't make this one early on - but are very excited to give a league debut to another youngster, Eli Meadows. Eli made himself available to the league recently when he turned 15 years old , and also signed a "letter of intent" with Championship side Somerset, agreeing to sign a contract with the Rebels when he reaches 16. Racers bosses are proud to include another highly sought after youngster in their team, even if it is a one off appearance.

The Falcons bring a strong team to the Abbey Stadium, packed with experience and led by Plymouth reserve Adam Sheppard. James Chattin and Saul Bulley both have National League experience to some extent and like several of the Racers'squad are looking to impress enough in the Development League to be given further NL opportunities.

Thursday's teams:

Reading Racers;

1. Nick Laurence (c), 2. Eli Meadows , 3. William O'Keefe, 4. Rhys Laker.

Exeter Falcons;

1. Adam Sheppard, 2. Max Pankhurst, 3. James Chattin, 4. Saul Bulley.
