Sixth Racer Named.
Reading Racers have completed their team building plans with the addition of Scottish youngster kieran Douglas.
Kieran, who was born in Scotland and is now based at Cornhill, just south of the border, started Speedway aged 14 riding in the British Youth rounds and at 16 was named as Berwick's No 8 on several occasions.
He rode for Buxton in the National League last season, averaging around 2.50 points a match, but with the club's withdrawal he thought he was going to start 2019 racing solely in the Northern Junior League for the Berwick academy, who he also rode for last year.
"I'm now looking forward to the season ahead, I've worked hard in the gym and spent a lot on my bikes. I look forward to a new challenge with Reading, while riding again for the Berwick Academy" said the 20 year old.
Kieran was a keen and popular member of the 2018 Buxton team, and Reading are pleased to have him on board, completing their 6 man squad ahead of the first match at their new Swindon base on April 22nd
Kieran joins captain Nick Laurence, Jamie Bursill and Rhys Laker who all return from last year, alongside newcomers Sam Norris and Jamie Couzins in an impressive looking squad for the Racers this year. In Laurence, Couzins and Douglas this line up has more experience behind it, but all 3 find themselves on the outside where the National League is concerned as the 2019 season begins.
The Racers team managers Gene Carter and Mat Stevens are confident the trio's desire to get back in the NL will lead to some impressive performances for the team as they put themselves in the shop window, leading to on track success for the club.
